Information & history on back of plaques:
04-111 Grace Notes Music   In the early years some music stores only sold pianos while others grew to specialize in band instruments and sheet music.  Whatever the instrument, harp or horn, voice or violin, there has been music throughout the centuries.  Whether it be a jingle on the television or a song on our favorite radio station, at some point in each day of our life we hear music.  From Beethoven to Broadway, arias to ZZ Top, piccolos to tubas, you will find it all at Grace Notes Music!
Can you name the tune running across the front of this building?
04-112 1823 Town Hall   Town halls were created as a place that symbolized that the town's civic bodies assembled there.  They were a place where the city fathers gathered to take care of business, and where town meetings were held.  Today, many are still used for the same purpose - a place for political gatherings, candidate forums, or civic meetings.  Most American town halls were built on a preferential site in order to serve as a landmark or to reinforce their symbolic importance.  Some also housed libraries, jails, fire departments, or were the gathering place for local markets.
Step back in time to our 1823 town hall and envision the mayor arriving in his horse drawn carriage or smell the freshly baked bread Grandma is setting at the market!
04-113 Movie Theater   Bridge on the River Kwai, Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, True Grit, The Seven Year Itch, Dr. Zhivago, White Christmas, North By Northwest, The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly - umm...smell the popcorn!  With humble beginnings through the Kinetoscope, movie watching progressed as nickelodeons opened in store front theaters using a sheet for the screen, a few benches, and a box to collect the nickel admission (hence the term "box" office).  Eventually the phenomenon grew into deluxe movie palaces seating between 2,500 and 6,000 cinemagoers.  There's nothing like watching Psycho on the big screen to remind you that you will never again take a shower.
04-114 St. Francis Veterinary Clinic   Who can resist that intrepid explorer, the kitten, or the curiosity of a new puppy?  Americans are the most pet loving people in the world - 60% of the households have at least two pets.  According to a survey by the American Veterinary Medical Association, 84% of pet owners refer to themselves as their pet's mom or dad, 63% celebrate their pets birthday, and 43% give their pet a wrapped gift.  The birthrate of puppies and kittens is seven times that of humans, which means each human born would have to adopt seven pets just to keep up.  Be a responsible owner, spay and neuter all pets.
Trivia.   As a child Manon Michael Morrison had an Airedale named Duke.  Local firemen noticed the two were inseparable and called the dog Big Duke, and the boy Little Duke.  The man we know as John Wayne never lost the nickname "Duke."
