Information & history on back of plaques:

R398 Old Main, Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, Pennsylvania. Old Main, with its twin towers, is the most memorable and beloved building on the W&J campus. Listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, Old Main has served virtually every student in the college's history since the construction of the central portion of the building in 1836. Between 1847 and 1850 two wings were added to the original structure, along with a dome that was later removed. The twin towers were built in 1865 with a gift of $50,000 from the town of Washington to symbolize the union of Washington College and Jefferson College.
A fourth floor, mansard roof and the present front were added in 1875. In addition to classrooms, faculty offices, computer facilities, the faculty lounge and the college chapel, Old Main is also the home of the original bust of Thomas Jefferson that was done for the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.

R399 Washington County Court House, Washington, Pennsylvania. The present-day Washington Courthouse, completed in November 1900, and designed in Italian Renaissance architecture, is the fourth courthouse of the county. The magnificent architecture won it a place in the National Register of Historic Places.

R400 The David Bradford House, Washington, Pennsylvania. The David Bradford House was completed in 1788 at its present location. 175 South Main Street, in Washington, Pennsylvania. David Bradford was a successful lawyer, businessman, Deputy Attorney General of Washington County and a prominent figure in the "Whiskey Rebelion." The house was restored in the late 1950's to its original 18th century design and is complimented by a garden of plants and flowers, typical of the time. The Bradford House is an outstanding example of 18th century living and is a historic landmark in Washington County.

R401 LeMoyne House, Washington, Pennsylvania. Built in 1812, the LeMoyne House was the home of Dr. Francis Julius LeMoyne, noted physician and abolitionist and the builder of the first crematory in the United States. The house was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
